My 'Pebble Plesiosaur' was designed and created for the V&A's World Beach Project as a homage to Mary Anning, the 19th C. Fossil Collector and Palaeontologist, who found the first Plesiosaur remains on the Jurassic coastline of Lyme Regis where she lived. When I saw her drawing of the Plesiosaur, the bones looked like pebbles, so that was the inspiration for this Land Artwork.
With Thanks to Tracy Chevalier, who introduced me to Mary Anning in her book 'Remarkable Creatures'.....and to my husband and trusty assistant Tony, who helped me to find and sort the pebbles.
